Where Are The Outsiders?
Find out where the cast of Francis Ford Coppola's film are now.The Outsiders, Francis Ford Coppola's 1983 adaptation of S.E Hinton's novel about a group of young boys from the wrong side of the tracks.
Loyalty, trust and rivalry are beautifully captured in this teen rights-of-passage classic that introduced many a rising star - but where are they now?
Emilio EstevezSon of Martin Sheen and brother to Charlie Sheen, Estevez began performing at an early age.
TV movies started his career, but it was not long before he fell into feature films.

Emilio Estevez
Rob Lowe
Matt Dillon
Ralph Macchio
Patrick Swayze
Tom Cruise
Roles appear to have dried up for Estevez in recent years, although he has just announced that he'll be starring in Bobby, which he wrote and plans to direct.
Rob LoweAn original member of the Brat Pack, Lowe entered the entertainment industry through modelling but by his teens was a familiar face on TV.
More notorious for his wild ways than his screen performances in his early years, he surprised many with his Golden Globe nomination for his role in Square Dance in 1987. Just one year later he was involved in a sex scandal involving a videotape, which resulted in 20 hours of community service and a period of rehab.
It is claimed that Mike Myers was responsible for resurrecting Lowe's career by casting him in both Wayne's World films and later in Austin Powers II. His revival was cemented in his role in the hugely popular TV series, The West Wing.
Christopher Thomas HowellOh dear. Where do we start? After a successful debut in the film business as Tyler in ET and the coveted role as Ponyboy Curtis in The Outsiders, Howell never lived up to his potential or people's expectations.
In his fifty or so feature films he's delivered a few notable performances, but in comparison to the rest of these mega stars Howell's career steadily declined throughout the late 1980s.
He held brief teen idol status in the mid 1980s but some bad career choices have blown him off the radar into films such as Hot Boyz and The Prince and the Surfer.
Matt DillonDespite the association Matt Dillon still holds as a heartthrob his career has been varied and constant. He had the brooding teen heartthrob role down to perfection after Drugstore Cowboy and Rumble Fish but perhaps the turning point in his career was The Flamingo Kid, which proved Dillon could successfully turn his hand at new genres.
Since then, he's achieved some notable performances in some mediocre films and has proved he can please the crowds with some quirky roles, as in There's Something About Mary and One Night at McCool's. In 2002 he turned his hand to his first directorial project, City of Ghosts, which he also wrote.
Ralph MacchioWhatever happened to Ralph Macchio? The star of the Karate Kid trilogy showed such promise in the late 1980s but failed to deliver beyond his teenage years. He won praise for his performance as Johnny Cade in The Outsiders and immediately after the film's release he was considered a rising star within Hollywood.
He played "Daniel-Son" in The Karate Kid, which is likely to remain his best known film although he re-emerged in 1992 in the brilliant hit, My Cousin Vinny, but his lacklustre performance sealed his fate as a has-been. In 2002 he wrote and directed Love Thy Brother, a 9-minute comic short which received decent reviews.
Patrick SwayzeSwayze did not become a household name until Dirty Dancing in 1987. Before that, Swayze had starred in a variety of forgettable films, TV and stage shows many of which called upon his skills as a trained dancer.
Post Dirty Dancing, it was Ghost that confirmed his status as a big time actor. Just one year after this he was voted People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive in 1991. His success was fairly short lived and he soon disappeared into a plethora of poor movies like Black Dog and Forever Lulu.
His surprise casting in the surreal hit, Donnie Darko as creepy Jim Cunningham opens up endless possibilities for cult cameos for the former pin up.
Tom CruiseWhat can we say about this man that is not already known? His part in The Outsiders as Steve Randle was a relatively small one. Just a few years later he was a guaranteed box office winner, starring in the hugely popular Top Gun, The Color of Money, Cocktail and Rain Man.
Tom has mass appeal down to an art form, and by the 1990s he was earning an average of $15 million per film. With his latest project The Last Samurai already causing a stir, it's all still looking pretty good for Mr Cruise.
