Remakes of Hitchcock's Strangers on a Train have proliferated in the Nineties but this gender-switch example, once known as The Proposition, is about the best, boosted by strong performances from Jacqueline Bisset and Theresa Russell. The latter, in the old Robert Walker role, is in venomous form as the woman who suggests 'swap murders' to get rid of unwanted relatives. Director Tommy Lee Wallace keeps it tight and tense once the theme has been established.
