The Late Shift

A fact-based drama centred on the background goings-on and dirty dealings at TV company NBC when talk-show host Johnny Carson was replaced by Jay Leno on The Tonight Show. Leno (here Daniel Roebuck) and David Letterman (John Michael Higgins) slug it out verbally, with the former winning the slot, thanks mainly to his nasty manager (Kathy Bates). Impressionist Rich Little plays Johnny Carson to a T. Good playing all round in a cutting number that shows how cruel and competitive the TV industry can be.
