John Maybury

The writer/director made his Hollywood feature debut with the psychological drama The Jacket with Adrien Brody.
Love is the Devil - an analysis of the doomed relationship between artist Francis Bacon and his lover George Dyner - had earlier put Maybury on the art house map.
The movie enjoyed success in the 1988 Cannes Film Festival and won the best new film award at the Edinburgh Film Festival.
Originally a painter, Maybury began shooting films around London's late 70s punk scene.
His collaboration with director Derek Jarman led to him designing sets and costumes for Jubilee and editing on Last of England and War Requiem.
In 1994, Remembrance of Things Fast won the Los Angeles Critics Circle Award for best independent film and the Golden Jury Teddy Bear at Berlin.
As well as experimental films, Maybury has directed promotional videos for the the likes of The Smiths and Boy George.
His work on Sinead O'Connor's Nothing Compares 2 U resulted in a Grammy nomination and three MTV awards.
He has also created video installations for the world tours of acts including Kylie Minogue and U2.
