Marooned

Oscar-winning special effects and a poignant performance by Gene Hackman highlight this Apollo 13-style drama about three US astronauts marooned in space after their re-entry rocket fails to fire. An edge-of-seat drama for three-quarters of the way, the film itself gets space sickness in the last reel with an ending which takes some believing. Richard Crenna and James Franciscus are the other astronauts; Gregory Peck and David Janssen complete a macho all-star cast.
