Jeffrey Dean Morgan

Jeffrey Dean Morgan

Born: April 22 1966
Where: Seattle, Washington State, USA

The onetime graphic artist has made a name for himself on both sides of the Atlantic as a reliable rom-com player.

He co-starred opposite Uma Thurman in the romance The Accidental Husband and was Hilary Swank's Irish lover in PS I Love You.

"As I've gotten older, I have realized what a huge privilege it is to even be in this business. I, more than ever, love what I do."

In America, Morgan became well known for playing three high-profile roles simultaneously: patient Denny Duquette on Grey's Anatomy, patriarch John Winchester on Supernatural, and Judah Botwin, the deceased husband of Mary-Louise Parker in Weeds.

Morgan attended Ben Franklin Elementary School, Rose Hill Junior High and Lake Washington High School in the Seattle suburb of Kirkland.

He was a basketball player in high school and university, until a knee injury ended his desire for a career in the sport.

He was a graphic artist for a time, until he helped a friend move to Los Angeles and subsequently landed a role in the 1991 thriller Uncaged.

He subsequently appeared in the gangster thriller Dillinger and Capone and the drama Undercover Heat.

However, he is best known for his American TV work, including the serie ER, JAG, Walker, Angel, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Sliders, and Monk.

In 2007, he played William 'Billy' Gallagher in the rom-com PS I Love You, based on the novel by the Irish novelist Cecelia Ahern.

The same year he played an Irish fireman who enters into an online marriage with Uma Thurman in the rom-com The Accidental Husband.

Upcoming roles include The Comedian, a cigar-chomping vigilante, in the upcoming Watchmen, based on Alan Moore's novel.
