Homer's classic poem comes to the screen. Armand Assante plays Greek hero Odysseus trying to make it home after his victory at Troy, but hindered on the way by various obstacles - such as gods he has offended. His spiritual guide Athena (Isabella Rossellini) is on hand to help him out of difficulties, and Eric Roberts dons a smirk as the treacherous Eurymachus. Meanwhile, Odysseus's wife Penelope (Greta Scacchi) waits at home for 10 years without news, fending off suitors who believe she is now a widow. Originally a mini-series, this has some good special effects (especially the Trojan horse). It's an enjoyable enough tale set in picturesque Mediterranean locations.
