This bizarre piece of Yuletide whimsy is held together by the irresistible Shelley Long. She plays an ambitious attorney running for a mayoral position who is plagued by her father's obsession - he thinks he's Father Christmas. Bruce Kirby (father of character actor Bruno) is the sad old man while Barry Bostwick is the reporter who cottons on to the story - a scoop which could seriously affect Shelley's candidacy... Also known as Santa & Me - probably a catchier title.

This for me is a really lovely and enjoyable film. Shelley Long and Barry Bostwick go so well together and Bostwick is a real stable influence in the film. Any plots involving Santa are well known but this film is so nice that it stops it becoming corny and over sentimental. I suspect it's only for people who are young at heart.
