Good of its kind if you like tales of teenage witchery, this feisty special effects scarer focuses on four high-school girls majoring in weirdness. Just as an addict might move from soft to hard drugs, this quirky quartet moves from dabbling in the occult to the real thing, invoking demons to wreak revenge on their enemies. A couple of deaths later, it's all too much for the girl with the most natural powers (Robin Tunney). She wants out, but the others won't let her, particularly chief witchette Fairuza Balk, a veritable gorgon of a goth who's aiming to drive the defector to suicide. A few tart lines mark this one out as better than most of its kind. The fearsome foursome is really the whole show, and everyone else pales by comparison.
