Love Actually, Hugh Grant

Hugh Must Be Joking

Mr Grant's toes will never twinkle again...

If Strictly Ballroom is ever re-made, Hugh Grant will not be in contention for a role.

And that's by his own admission.

His latest film, Love Actually, sees Hugh in the role of the prime minister who falls in love with one of the Downing Street tea ladies, played by Martine McCutcheon.

But it wasn't the love scenes or remembering his lines that gave Hugh sleepless nights, instead it was a short section where he had to shake his butt.

The Four Weddings And A Funeral star claims that the build up to shooting the scene was almost unbearable:

"I dreaded it and dreaded it and tried every way I could to get the scene cut, but to no avail."

With the smooth co-ordinated moves of Bill and Ben the flowerpot men, Hugh explained how he just had to take the plunge, but couldn't bear to watch himself:

"I never looked at the monitor, I just thought: 'Well, I'm getting some good laughs, I'm sure it'll be all right'".

"And then at the end of the day, I went and played it back...

and I promise you that from that moment to the end of my life, I will never dance again."

Extreme measures you may think, but understandable when you consider that dancing in front of a crowd is bad enough, but knowing millions of people worldwide will watch you throwing your shapes must be torture...

And just to top it all off, poor old Hugh had to perform all this with the added embarrassment of doing it in his underpants.
