This has nothing to do with Space Family Robinson, the cult Sixties TV series, but is an offbeat documentary, with narration by Paul Scofield, from British writer/director Patrick Keiller. His previous film, London, took the point of view of two fictional offscreen characters moving around and commenting on the capital, and was critically well received. Keiller has used the same formula here but covers the whole of Britain, spreading the idea rather too thinly. Although beautifully photographed, as a comment on Britain today, it falls short of the mark. Also, the film's decidedly anti-Tory stance makes it now seem dated.
