Nice guy John Ritter shows his darker side in this pretty grim TV movie about a man who takes out his rage and frustration on his wife. One day he goes too far and after giving Judy (Harley Jane Kozak) a nasty beating, he flees to his mistress and ends up giving her a thorough pasting, too. Lovely bloke, eh? The threat of jail and the look of fear in the eyes of his daughter (Gina Phillips) send him on the road to redemption - but not necessarily forgiveness. The fact that Ritter is more familiar in gentle and positive roles is difficult for him to overcome, but he manages to be both convincingly nasty and ultimately touching in this unflinching look at the darker side of American family life.
