Nail-biting scenes of fire-fighting heroism at the start give way to an action thriller featuring every cliché in the book. As hero Jesse, a thick-necked, likeable chap, who parachutes into fires and defies the odds to survive, Howie Long redefines the meaning of 'wooden'. The plot has him trying to save ornithologist Jennifer (Suzy Amis), trapped by fires that have been started by crooks attempting to cause a diversion. As Randy, William Forsythe (so good in Palookaville) is wasted in a formula psycho-baddy role, leaving Scott Glenn, as a retired fire chief, to supply the acting class.
