Not really all that scary despite the title, this might be the first movie to get its basic idea from a carnival attraction (the thrill ride at Florida's DisneyWorld). Steve Guttenberg plays a reporter down on his luck who agrees to investigate the decades-old murder of a child film star in a 'haunted' hotel and takes his feisty teenage niece (Kirsten Dunst) along for the thrill. Nia Peeples and John Franklin bring personality to supporting roles, but this really is a very mild junior version of all those 'Scream'-type movies and only children of a very nervous disposition should stay away.
