Michael Keaton turns to comedy again, and the results are a tonic for us all. It may not be a riot of laughs, but this is fun to be with.
Stressed-out Doug (Keaton) just can't keep up with the demands of his job, home, wife (Andie MacDowell) and children. It's all getting too much.
The answer comes along in the form of a geneticist (Harris Yulin) who promises Doug a miracle - and provides three. Cloning's the name of the game and pretty soon Doug has triplet brothers.
Number Two's a slobby workaholic, Number Three a proper little kitchen devil and Number Four, well, Number Four isn't Doug's idea and doesn't actually do anything but act the fool.
These are conventional stereotypes that might give offence elsewhere.
But in a special effects (and they are flawless) romp like this, too much subtlety might spoil the broth and it's laughter we're after. Keaton provides a few miracles of his own keeping the four Dougs in character.
