Based on an H E Bates novel, this carefully made tale set in 19th-century England stars Embeth Davidtz as Bella, a troubled young woman who has lost her baby. Taken in by Mr and Mrs Wainwright (Tom Bell and Gemma Jones), Bella soon attracts the attention of their three sons (James Purefoy, Kenneth Anderson and Ben Chaplin), leading to passion, jealousy and tragedy. A well-acted and powerful drama.
