This powerful, absorbing slice of Bradford life has a truer flavour than other similar efforts. You are quickly drawn into the problems of Indian taxi driver Om Puri, who finds the estrangement from his wife escalating when she takes the side of his volatile son, who has thrown up an engagement to a local police chief's daughter to join an extremist Islamic sect. The drama is wonderfully played, particularly by Puri and Rachel Griffiths as the hooker he's attracted to.
