A class of under-achievers in Hawaii and are encouraged by their new science teacher (Halle Berry) to build and race a solar-powered car despite cynicism on the part of bored shop instructor (James Belushi). Naturally, they do Teach proud and take their car all the way to Oz where they do battle with more experienced drivers, their own shortcomings and the country itself. Based on fact, the film unfortunately suffers from mediocre characterisation (Ben Affleck's brother Casey appears as a loner kid) which isn't given time to develop, so the best thing about it is the spectacular scenery.
