Thomas Vinterberg
Born: May 19 1969
Where: Copenhagen, Denmark
One of the founding "brothers" of the Dogme 85 movement, Vinterberg attracted international success with the movie Celebration.
Bizarrely, the movie - which adhered to the Dogme 85 principles of no music, natural light and hand-held camerawork - did not feature him on the credit list (another Dogme rule).
This graduation short from the National Film School of Denmark - Last Round - won festival prizes in Munich and Tel Aviv.
Popular success followed with his breakthrough short fiction film - The Boy Who Walked Backwards - and the fast-paced thriller The Biggest Heroes in 1996.
After Celebration (Festen), which told the dark secrets of the family patriarch on his 60th Vinterberg worked on TV before embarking on most most mainstream movie yet.
It's All About Love stars Joaquin Phoenix and Clare Danes as a couple of lovers trying to make sense of a chaotic world.
