FBI agent Frank LaCrosse (Dennis Quaid) sets off on the trail of the killer who kidnapped his son. The prime suspects are Jared Leto and Danny Glover...but they get swallowed up in a shoal of red herrings. Debut director Jeb Stuart made his name as the scriptwriter on Bruce Willis' Die Hard.

Unfortunately, there's not really much new ground covered in this serial killer thriller by debut director Jeb Stuart.

Plot twists that promise something different suddenly fall flat in this tale of an FBI agent (Dennis Quaid) who is chasing the man who kidnapped his son.

We have two prime suspects in Jared Leto and Danny Glover, travelling west together.

Red herrings abound, secrets are revealed, but the weak narrative structure that keeps losing the build-ups means it's only passable fare.

And Stuart, who hit the big-time with his screenplay for Die Hard, hasn't tried direction again since.

Dennis Quaid is okay, but Danny Glover somewhat falls short as a suspect. Jared Leto had a bright performance that made you think 'is he the kidnapper or not'. All in all, the many shortfalls may not make up for the action. I would give this film 3 stars, but the most sympathy I felt in this film was Jared Leto's character. A half-rewarding experience.
