Another latter-day adaptation of the Len Deighton Harry Palmer tales, with Michael Caine reprising his famous Sixties character, now based in Russia as a private eye. When Harry's young Russian partner (Jason Connery) finds his ballerina girlfriend kidnapped, lots of suspects and clues are thrown into the pot to complicate the investigation and a parallel case of an art theft from the Hermitage. This sad let-down entirely lacks the edge, style and excitement of the old movies and clichés abound in a tediously unwrapping case.
