They don't come much darker than this blackly comic adult thriller that plays out the Little Red Riding Hood story with extreme violence. Teenager Vanessa (Reese Witherspoon) is having a bad day - her parents are arrested for prostitution and drugs. To avoid being sent back into foster care, she runs off to find her grandmother's cottage (actually in a trailer park), hitching a ride with a kindly-seeming but deeply psychopathic psychiatrist, Bob Wolverton (Kiefer Sutherland). In a bizarre, darkly funny and borderline camp cocktail of mutilation and retribution, Witherspoon shines as the sassy Vanessa, and if you can stomach all the gory goings-on, you'll be rooting for her until the end.
