The actor first came to the attention of cinemagoers as Sir William's squire Wat in A Knight's Tale opposite Heath Ledger.
However, sci-fi buffs may also know him for the role of Sunny the robot in the Isaac Asimov thriller I Robot opposite Will Smith.
After high school. Tudyk studied drama at the Lon Morris Jr College in Texas and was nominated the student "most likely to succeed".
He made his feature debut in 1997 in 35 Miles From Normal and went on to play Everton in Patch Adams alongside Robin Williams.
Subsequent appearances included a cocaine-addicted stripper in 28 Days and Wonder Boys before A Knight's Tale and Hearts in Atlantis.
He memorably provided the voice for the sabre-toothed tiger among other in Ice Age and starred in the indie flick Meet Market.
In 2004, he supplied the voice and mannerisms for the robot Sonny in I Robot and switched genres for the broad comedy Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story.
