A few smart lines survive from the original in this rather vapid, truncated version of Noël Coward's play. 'I'm taking the 11.15 from Deal,' sobs Hollywood star Jeanne Tripplehorn, flouncing out on aristocratic Brit fiancé Edward Atterton. 'You can't,' he stammers, upper lip trembling. 'Why? ' she storms. 'It's an awful train,' he replies. 'You have to change at Maidstone and Ashford.' Elsewhere, there's too little vintage Coward and too much indecent haste, although Julie Andrews is a truly regal Lady Marshwood and Sophie Thompson has a little fun with the maid who turns out to be the movie star's long-lost sister.
