Despite the fact that few go to see his offbeat films, director Alan Rudolph continues to attract star-studded casts. Bruce Willis, Nick Nolte, Barbara Hershey, Albert Finney, Glenne Headly and Owen Wilson head up this hyper-active but dreadfully dated manic comedy, which is based on the novel by celebrated American writer Kurt Vonnegut (Catch 22). Willis is a mid-life crisis car salesman whose couch potato wife and dog both hate him. The film starts brightly but careers off into caricature long before the end.
