This Aussie film has a great leading actress in Oscar nominee Rachel Griffiths and milks her for all she's worth. And Rachel's worth her weight in gold to this romantic fantasy about a 30something Sydney authoress on the verge of suicide at the prospect of living her life alone. Foiled in her suicide bid by an electrical storm, Rachel has a minor road accident and ends up in the life she might have had if she'd married her childhood sweetheart. Bewildered at first, she's thrilled to have a fling with a man who was married in her other life, but horrified to find she's been having an affair with a slob her original self wouldn't go near. She also sorts 'her' three kids out as to a) periods, b) behaviour and c) toilet training, although the youngest has a secret which proves a delightful key to the touching denouement. A film that celebrates life. TRIVIA: This may also be the first film to credit a 'hand double' for its leading lady.
