An annoyingly idiotic, only semi-modernised version of the Bard's grimmest and goriest play, Titus Andronicus.
If you're going to do this kind of thing, you just can't afford to let it go off at half-cock.
So dynamic acting, especially by Anthony Hopkins, Jessica Lange, Laura Fraser and Angus MacFadyen, is allowed to go for almost nothing, as the retained Shakespearian elements render ludicrous the story of a Caligula-like Roman emperor (Alan Cumming) and his wronged general (Hopkins).
Sleep may catch up with you rather more quickly than Sir Anthony catches up with the villains who have killed his sons and wronged his daughter.
