Michael Douglas in the narrator for this extremely involving and challenging documentary, showing members of the Israeli team being taken hostage by Palestinian terrorists at the 1972 Olympic Games, in which the media and the Olympic authorities are demonised almost as much as the Palestinians. The thought-provoking script and careful editing of the footage are up to tackling the tricky controversies arising from the chilling events and their handling, as well as showing clearly the outrage they caused. Unsurprisingly and deservedly, it won an Oscar for Best Documentary Feature. The Philip Glass score is a major asset.
