A steamy drama set around a murder trial. Newspaper reporter Elden Tolbert (Devon Gummersall) is sent to cover a scandal that has rocked the small rural town where he grew up.

A beautiful waitress, Elsie Townsend (Marley Shelton), has been accused of murdering Marsha Chambers (Talia Shire).

But it transpires that Tolbert used to be Elsie's lover and he finds himself called up to testify as a witness in the case.

Via flashbacks, the murky story comes to light, as the dead woman's husband, Rick (Dennis Hopper), is revealed to have been having an affair with Elsie.

A poorly made exploitation film with tawdry echoes of the French classic Les Diaboliques.
