The Toro cheerleading squad from Rancho Came High School in San Diego has got spirit, sass and a killer routine that's sure to land them the national championship trophy for the sixth year in a row.

But for newly-elected team captain Torrance (Kirsten Dunst), the Toros' road to glory takes a shady turn when she discovers that their cheer routines were stolen from the Clovers squad, by the Toros' former captain.

While the Toros scramble to come up with a new routine, the Clovers, led by captain Isis (Gabrielle Union) have their own problems - coming up with enough money to cover their travel expenses to the championships.

As Torrance tries to do the right thing, she still has enough time to fall in love with the new boy in school (Jesse Bradford), become best mates with his streetwise sister (Eliza Dushku), raise money in a charity car wash, and fight off the scheming taking place by her rivals within the squad.

However, as time runs out, the pressure mounts for both captains.

Torrance is hell-bent on saving the Toros' reputation, and Isis is more determined than ever to see that the Clovers finally get the recognition that they deserve.

But only one team can bring home the title, so whose moves will win?
