In a script co-written by star/director Brian Dennehy, we continue the saga of Deputy Sheriff Jack Reed, who this time has to deal with several murders in the Russian community of Chicago. An intriguing subplot has Reed tackling a manslaughter with racial overtones when a black politician's son runs someone over. Based on real cases, this gritty telefilm draws believable portraits both of Russian immigrants in modern Chicago and of Reed's relationship with his boss, trenchantly played by Charles S Dutton.
