After the modicum of thought and flair shown by Blair Witch 2, this sequel to Urban Legend is a bit of a comedown: just your bog-standard slasher film in which teenagers at a film school are stalked and slaughtered by a maniac in a (fencing) mask. Doors bang behind nubile maidens and the killer is always one step ahead of his victim, while the heroine (Jennifer Morrison) goes on trying to make her film despite her crew getting killed one by one. (She would, of course, have called the cops after the first murder. ) Too many suspects, too few characters of character, and an explanation of the clumsy and careless killer's motives that doesn't hold water. A cast of unknowns - apart from Hart Bochner as their professor - dashes about looking desperate, a state perhaps not wholly brought about by the demands of the plot.
