The ex-model has played key supporting roles in movies including Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason and The Human Stain.
The daughter of a Brisbane firefighter, she left home to model in Paris and Tokyo for five years.
She subsequently took time out to learn German in Hamburg and acting at the British Academy of Dramatic Arts in Oxford and the US before landing a reality TV role in MTV's Real World.
In 1997, she was named one of People magazine's 50 most beautiful people and also landed her first big screen role in David Semel's Campfire Tales.
Appearances followed in the comedy drama Art House and 2000's horror-thriller Urban Legends: Final Cut.
After TV work she was cast alongside Anthony Hopkins and Nicole Kidman in the romantic thriller The Human Stain.
In 2004, she memorably played Colin Firth's legal assistant in Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason and Joaquin Phoenix's wife in the firefighting drama Ladder 49.
