The actor landed his debut lead role on the big screen as amateur porn director Baggy in the Carmen Electra comedy I Want Candy.
Previous feature outings had included the Johnny Depp drama The Libertine and the adventure fantasy DragonHeart: A New Beginning.
After attending the Young Arden Theatre in Faversham Kent, Burke - whose godfather is actor Alan Rickman - studied at London's Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
He made his television debut in 1999 alongside David Jason and Maggie Smith in the World War I drama All The King's Men.
The following year he made his big screen debut in DragonHeart: A New Beginning and enjoyed a recurring role in the BBC's acclaimed political drama State of Play.
TV work - including The Inspector Linley Mysteries - followed before director Laurence Dunmore cast him in the 2004 drama The Libertine.
Subsequent TV work included Casanova and The Brief before Wayne's World 2 director Stephen Surjik cast him in the comedy I Want Candy.
