Fact-based TV movie about early Hollywood film director-producer Bill Tilghman (played by Sam Elliott). Tilghman was a cowboy in real life, and even rode with the Earps. When he turned to making movies, he was determined to create films that were authentic, rather than the fake portrayals of contemporary Western stars. However, no one was interested in watching his nobodies on screen. Arliss Howard is the law man under the influence of drugs, as is much of the town, who wants to stop Tilghman. Made perhaps to appeal to a new generation of Western fans, this one doesn't quite get there. Contrived.
