A 10-year old girl befriends a man with learning difficulties in this rather shallow and manipulative coming-of-age drama. Harriet (Evan Rachel Wood) is the savvy kid with a dying mother and an irritating much older sister (Mary Stuart Masterson) who strikes up an unlikely friendship with Ricky (Kevin Bacon). Developments towards an inevitable sad ending aren't terribly involving and there are no surprises to keep thing bubbling along.
