Prestigious production from the British Film Institute. this film enticed Paul Scofield back to the cinema after 10 years away. He and Maria Schell play two ex-patients of Sigmund Freud, haunted by the ghosts of their pasts, people whom they feel they failed. Well-written and reverentially directed by co-scripter Hugh Foley, the film offers some interesting food for thought.
