John Travolta plays a saloon-bar rodeo rider on an automated bucking bronco here - but both he and the film bite the dust. Travolta's acting in this one is as over-melodramatic as John Gilbert's seemed with the coming of sound. Far more worth watching are Debra Winger as his barroom bride and Scott Glenn as the bad guy. But their story, crazily overlong at two and a quarter hours, takes a lot of swallowing.
