Directed by Derek Jarman, who made 'Sebastiane', 'Jubilee' and, more recently, 'Caravaggio', this is a non-narrative film, excellently scored and described by its director as "people I like in places and spaces that I like". Its imagery is almost entirely of young male figures, counterpointed by Judi Dench's voice-over reading from 14 sonnets by Shakespeare.
