A manic black comedy of confusion and coincidence, assembled with much skill and panache by director Otar Iosseliani, as a sort of La Ronde of comic death.

The Russian-born Iosseliani combines with his cast of amateur actors to unveil a masterly catalogue of tragically funny misfortunes.

He's happy working in France making such films as the native cinema rarely produces, since, as Iosseliani has asserted:

"If the French have a fault, it is their lack of a sense of humour."
