All's well in the kingdom. And this is a royal (Timothy) Dalton performance, as a tougher James Bond assumes a lone wolf role to pursue a personal vendetta against the drugs baron (Robert Davi) who has maimed Bond's old pal Felix Leiter. But the girls in the case still bring out the other kind of wolf in Britain's favourite agent over 30 years. Carey Lowell is quite a looker and a decent actress too as an adventurous charter pilot and CIA agent, while Talisa Soto provides somewhat less ability but stunningly exotic looks as the mistress of chief baddie Davi. The ending provides 15 minutes of sustained excitement as Bond takes on the baddies aboard petrol tankers on a rocky roadway and the action throughout, although only spasmodic, is first-rate when it comes.
