Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy, Emilio Estevez, Molly Ringwald and Anthony Michael Hall play bolshie high school students who are stuck in detention one Saturday morning and forced to confront issues about their lives. John Hughes' essential Eighties Brat Pack aims high, is often perceptive and is filled with funny and smart moments. Hughes wrote the screenplay to the film, which was originally called The Lunch Bunch, in just two days. Filmed entirely in sequence, it originally ran about two and a half hours, but was cut by a nervous film studio to 97 minutes and became a major hit.

How can a film about 5 students sat around chatting in detention be interesting, let alone enjoyable? Just watch and see. John Hughes creates the definitive teen movie with the simplest of ideas and no gimmicks.

This is possibly the finest American teen movie ever made, and certainly the best of John Hughes work. You can relate to every character, and it certainly brings back memories of high school for me, we all have bit of each of these people in us, the jock, the princess, the outcast, the geek, and the basketcase.

Without a doubt, in the 80s this was a film you would have to see! The story takes place in a school, the plot is good, the acting is good and this film is a must see!
