The director is best known for helming the box office smash Shrek 2 featuring the voices of Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy.
He made his directorial debut with Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, which earned an Academy Award nomination for best animated feature.
He attended Lamar University before switching to California Institute of Arts in LA where he joined Walt Disney.
Working as a storyboard artist on The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Toy Story and James and the Giant Peach, he went on to work as assistant art director on Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas.
In 1995 he joined DreamWorks SKG and worked on Chicken Run and Shrek before directing Spirit with Lorna Cook.
Outside movies, he is a successful children's book writer and illustrator and received glowing reviews for the Halloween-themes Witch Dot, Frankensquare and Candy Corn.
