The actor made his debut in a leading big screen role as Jonathan opposite Colin Farrell in A Home At the end of the World.
A graduate of New York's Julliard School, Roberts build up an impressive list of theatre appearances prior to feature work.
Off-Broadway, he appeared with Ed Norton and Catherine Keener in the hit revival of Lanford Wilson's Burn This.
"I've been asked many times what it was like to play a gay man. I have some difficulty with that - it's the same attitude that's trying to amend the Constitution."
He also starred in True Love as well as in the New York Theatre Workshop's production of Nocturne, for which he received a Drama Desk nomination.
He made his big screen debut in the shorts Music and the Heavy Put-Away before he was cast by director Michael Mayer in A Home At the end of the World.
