Incredible! Some people may think that this is an overstatement, but after watching the film... I couldn't stop watching it! I don't know how many times i've seen it now?! The action is brilliant, it's touching, moving, brilliantly acted and surreal! One of Tom Cruise's greats!

The Last Samurai shines with the elegance, passion, stunning battle sequences and an affective moral message with modern significance. The movie mixes mythological heroism with moving realism and depicts the life of the fading Samurai with respect and dignity. One of the best movies of its sort I've seen in a long time!

A fantastic movie, startling action with an amazing story of a culture trying to survive the onslaught of a Western influence. The director Edward Zwick did a brilliant job on this story.

The Last Samurai is not the intellectual study of Japanese culture it professes to be. It is a cracking yarn about a man's adventure in a foreign land two centuries ago. Sounds corny but don't be put off. You can experience empathy, sympathy and apathy about the same character, and several of them during the film, the action scenes are great and the gore level is just right. To use the old adage, if the film was twenty minutes shorter it would have been a belter! Maybe a TV series?

The film is an excellent start to 2004. The scenes are original, Tom's acting is great and there is a good story to follow. Unfortunately, it was quite predictable but nonetheless a good quality movie to watch. Great costume design with a sense of history. A must see film for 2004.
