Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Fantasy director Tim Burton proves the perfect choice to bring Roald Dahl's children's classic back to the big screen. Johnny Depp rewrites the traditional take on ace chocalatier Willy Wonka while Britain's Freddie Highmore engages emotionally as little Charlie Bucket. Dark, deeply satisfying and Burton's tastiest offering in an age.
I loved this film especially because its written by Roald Dahl and has my favourite actor, Johnny Depp! The only thing that dissapointed me was that they did'nt have the "square sweets that look round" joke in the film. My cousin and me agreed it was better than the old one.

The kids and wife loved it hence 5 stars. I really enjoyed seeing the kids so excited.

This film is a must see! It is better than the first one. Johnny Depp's performance really made willy wonka come alive. Freddie Highmore's inocence makes you loves him in this. Really well done!
Andrew Jones
This film is nothing compared to the original and Johnny Depp's performance is appalling.
Jordan Crombie
Excellent, but wierd film. Johnny Depp very funny. Couldn't recognise him. Whole film fantastic in special effects.
Samantha Arnold
Depp is outstanding as Wonka. An excellent remake, although not so keen on the changed Oompa Loompas.

A truly fantastic cinematic experience. I had a lot of expectations from this movie, since I (as almost everyone else) had seen the previous version several times, thus expecting more from this newer version (given the changes in technology and their effect upon the creation of the chocolate factory)...All my expectations were met, and many more. The storyline makes a lot more sense in this version. A very complete wholesome family entertainer. A classic with a darker side!

In the beginning, I felt so sorry for poor old Charlie. He never looked as if he would ever win one of those elusive gold tickets. But then, as if by magic, the impossible is made possible and he gets his wish. Willy Wonka sweeps him away through confectionery heaven. I'm sure Roald Dahl would have been pleased with this adaptation. Johnny Depp is a master of disguise and I really believed he was Willy Wonka.

Burton and Depp are a match made in heaven, mix Dahl into the equation and you get the near perfect film. OK the umpa lumpas songs weren't quite as good as the oringinal but still great. Depp supresses Wilder back to the dark ages with his portral of Wonka. The film is colourful, funny, clever and a whole lot more. The film is a true family great and will take its place along with the original in a list of great films. All that is left to say is WOW.

Nothing like the original, absolute crap!
Willy Wonka
Burton and Depp another catastrophe by the oh so undynamic duo. Why dont they next try doing Jaws or Wizard of Oz next or maybe this duo could have a crack at Remaking Lord of the Rings im sure Depp would make a great smegal! Some films should never be remade and this cumbersome cliched filled film with no heart or emotion typifies what artists and directors who came into the film industry after watching the like of Wizard of Oz for have sold themselves and the public out. Dissapointing.

I took my kids to see this film and thought it was so much better than the original and I loved that one. I thought that Depp portrayed a sinister character totally out of touch. Someone who built himself a life outside of reality and can see why people thought of Michael Jackson in this film. Depp is fantastic in his portrayal of the sinister in Wonka. I thought that it resembled his Edward Scissorhands role. The kids loved it and personally I thought it was brilliantly done and give it a 5
Ceri Jones
This film is brilliant.
Kate Carter
The film was much different but better than expected but the dark twist makes it all the more special and Johnny Depp fits the role incredibly well!
Andrew Jones
This film is nothing compared to the original and Johnny Depp's performance is appalling.
Kelci Lockwood
I think this film is very good , the first film was immense but in my opinion the new version of Willy Wonaka is amazing.
Jordan Snoddy
This movie was excellant! I enjoyed it very much! It was very funny and my family loved it, especially my younger sister as she loves the book. Thanks for a 5 star film!
Carmel Donning
I loved this film! It's much better than the original and more true to the book. Depp adds an extra dimension to Willy Wonka, and the flash backs to his childhood are genius! Not to be missed!
