Alexander
Colin Farrell fills the sandals of the sexually ambiguous warrior king in Oliver Stone's visually impressive epic. As you might expect, the battle scenes are competently handled and the gorish brutality leaves nothing to the imagination. (elephant's trunk lopped off, anyone?). Away from the director's belief that this is a mentally challenging epic, it is actually a good laugh and enjoyable action romp. Just don't take it too seriously.
This is without doubt one of the greatest films ever made. Certainly the finest historical epic. Despite the film almost reaching three hours in duration, it is realistic to the events which occured during Alexander's lifetime. Definatly recommended.

Very underrated and unique film. If you want splendid heroes in shining armour, don't watch it. If you want character depth and an intense biopic, it's a must-see.

I think Colin Farrell was the best. I enjoyed watching him (he is a great actor) and of course the beautiful Angelina a always was perfect.

If you go to the cinema expecting some 'troy-esque' marathon of action, love, betrayal and attractive men in short skirts, you'll leave feeling a little let down. If you are looking for a historically accurate portrayal of the life of Alexander the Great, then perhaps you'll leave half way through the slightly over-the-top 3 hours. The relationship between Alexander and Hephaistion is presented in a very nice way, but in general, the film focuses way too much on Alexander's sex life and his wars

Excuse me but what do Americans know about History? The film is NOT meant to be about all Alexander's battles but about him and his life! Ok the accents were a bit dodgy but the portrayal was BRILLIANT! I recommend your readers and reviewers go out and buy the 3 Valerio Massimo Manfredi books on Alexander - Excellent reading.

It too dull for convential minds to follow. A poor dimwit like myself may fail to understand the brillance of Farell's acting or his haircut. Or on the other had it's the most terrible dross ever to be seen on the big screen.
