Kicking of the Blockbuster season, iconic Marvel super hero, Iron Man finally blasts in to UK cinemas on May 2 with Robert Downey Jr as the genius inventor taken hostage and forced to build an impregnable suit of armour to escape his captors.

Whilst abroad to introduce his latest weapon system to the US military, billionaire industrialist and inventor Tony Stark is taken captive by a group of rebels who want to use Stark’s ingenuity for their own ends. Given access to a workshop he’s commanded to build a devastating weapon.

However Stark is soon building something else. Deep underground Stark begins to forge a high-tech suit of armour to escape. Returning home and now with a new-found sense of purpose to his life Stark vows to protect the world by building an even more sophisticated armoured suit, introducing the world to the Invincible Iron Man.

Starring Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark/Iron Man, directed by Jon Favereau and featuring a stellar cast including Gwyneth Paltrow, Terrence Howard and Jeff Bridges, Iron Man (Cert 12A) is released in cinemas nationwide May 2.
