Jeff Bridges and Sam Waterston make an endearing comedy duo in this off-beat spoof Western. Sometimes the film reaches real peaks of excellence with some terrific lines and good-natured fall-about humour, but director Frank Perry has difficulty maintaining the standard he sets in patches. Bridges plays a feckless cowpoke and Waterston a `lapsed' Native Indian who together decide to embark on a life of crime.
