An outspoken, modish, interesting but resolutely bleak three-hander about two girls who find they're both year-long lovers of the same guy when they turn up at his flat together. The all-talk piece that follows is well acted by Heather Graham, Natasha Gregson Wagner and (in particular) by Robert Downey Jr as the charming but duplicitous Blake. The secret of getting people to actually see this kind of thing has not, however, been solved here by director James Toback and, though it isn't based on a play, it does run like one. Despite a bright beginning and a neat resolution, the overlapping shouting and screaming match in between may have you glazing over.
